Cutest Girl

This morning I was helping Kiah get dressed for her last day of first grade.  I don't normally allow her to wear dresses.  Mainly because I hate the idea of her panties showing.  But since today was a half day and they wouldn't have lunch or recess, I went ahead and let her.

Kiah had been lamenting for the last week that she didn't want to go to school on the last day because all they were going to do was worksheets.  I found that hard to believe.  I knew her teacher, Mrs.Teale, would not have a day full of worksheets, especially the last day.  And doubly so, since she is moving and will never see these students anymore.  I kept telling Kiah she needed to go because she had already been absent from school a lot and she shouldn't worry because she would have fun.  The dress was also to help pump her up for the day.  After she got her dress on I told her she was "the cutest girl in first grade."  She smiled and went to school.

When I picked her up from school I gave Mrs. Teale a hug.  She really is one of the best teachers I have ever met!  I am so sad Eli and Annalise won't be able to have her as a teacher.  Mrs. Teale told me one last story about Kiah for the year.  Apparently while Kiah was at school she spoke with Mrs. Douglas, the assistant teacher in her classroom.

Kiah: My mom said I am the cutest girl in the first grade
Mrs. Douglas: You are one of them.
Kiah: Who's the other one?
